Dr. Spotts is a summa cum laude graduate of Temple University and holds a Master’s and Doctoral degree from the University of Wisconsin where he studied with the eminent Carl Rogers. In addition to his school consultation work, Dr. Spotts maintains an independent psychotherapy practice in New Canaan, CT, where he has practiced since 1969. He is a member of The American Psychological Association, The Eastern Psychological Association, and the Connecticut Psychological Association.

Dr. Spotts co-authored You Can Say No to Your Teenager (Addison-Wesley Publishing Co. 1991). The book is addressed to parents of adolescents, who face daunting challenges regarding limits and boundaries in today’s world. Topics covered in this volume include how to help teens with the development of responsible decision making regarding alcohol, drugs, sex, the value of school and thinking well, and the solidification of values as a life pattern.

In March 2005, on behalf of the Enofra Africa Fund, Dr. Spotts was invited to participate in a conference in Accra, Ghana. His role was to provide medical and educational professionals with child development information, to discuss varying interferences in healthy psychological and educational development, and to develop intervention programs to combat these interferences in this developing country.
